Clare Moore is a songwriter, arranger, producer and performer whose principal instrument is the drums. Moore began performing in 1974, playing drums at school and at Rock Mass, in Adelaide. One of her teachers in this time was the noted musician and nun Sister Janet Mead who sang a pop rock version of "The Lord's Prayer" in 1973.

The Moodists are a post-punk band that were formed in late 1980 by Dave Graney on lead vocals, Clare Moore on drums and Steve Miller on guitar, all from Adelaide punk group Sputniks. They added bass guitarist Chris Walsh in early 1981, and in April 1983 added guitarist Mick Turner (ex-Sick Things, Fungus Brains). The band were signed by Bruce Milne and Greta Moon to their Au Go Go label in 1981. They issued their sole studio album, Thirsty's Calling, in April 1984. The group disbanded in 1987.
In 1987, singer Dave Graney decided to pursue a solo career and, with Moore as his music director, formed Dave Graney and The Coral Snakes and recorded an EP for Fire Records produced by Barry Adamson before returning to Australia in late 1988. In Melbourne in the following five or six years they worked with Universal Records, for whom they recorded four albums.
Clare Moore has also played in: Dave Graney and The White Buffaloes, The Dave Graney Show, Dave Graney & the MistLY, Dave Graney and Clare Moore, The Dames, The Routines. Moore also played drums in Harry Howard and the NDE for three albums. Moore released her debut solo album The Third Woman in 2001.
Major bands that Clare has supported in St Kilda music venues have been: The Fall, Boys Next Door, The Ears, The Go Betweens, The Triffids, The Scientists, Laughing Clowns, Dead Can Dance, Bob Mould, Thurston Moore, Bob Dylan, The Flaming Lips.
In 2010 Clare and Rosie Westbrook produced the 'Rock Chicks' concert at the
Arts Centre Melbourne, that was part of an exhibition of the same name. They put a band together and backed many of the
legends of Australian music including Margret Roadknight, Jeannie Lewis, Carol
Lloyd, Rebecca Barnard, Jodie Phillis and Adalita to name a few.
In 2023, The Australian Women in Music Awards gave Clare Moore, Jeannie Lewis and Kate Ceberano a joint Lifetime Achievement award.
Clare has played gigs at St Kilda music venues including: The Seaview Hotel / The Crystal Ballroom, The Espy, St Kilda Inn, Prince of Wales Band Room, Palais Theatre, St Kilda Festival main stage, The Palace, MEMO Music Hall, George Lane.
